My name is Pauline Winchester, and I am the Scottish Conservative & Unionist Councillor in Midlothian West (Loanhead, Rosewell, Roslin, Damhead, Bilston, Auchendinny, Milton Bridge and including Mauricewood in Penicuik). As with everyone else I was elected in the council elections in 2017.
I was brought up travelling with my family following my British Army father. We lived in many places (Aden, Kenya, all over Germany and all over the UK), and this has enabled me to get a rich and varied flavour of life and work. Although I didn’t follow my father into the forces my brother and his wife did serve. Between the three of them they have approximately 100 years’ service – something I am very proud of them for.
I trained as a Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse in Sheffield but now work part time for NHS Lothian in Edinburgh (prior to Covid-19). I worked in Sheffield after training, but also worked in Bristol and Cardiff, as well as Glasgow and Edinburgh.
I moved to Scotland in February 2002. I’ve stayed in Midlothian since then, and think it’s a wonderful local authority to live and work in. I am lucky to have made many close friends since moving here.
My work in Midlothian West includes attending five community councils whenever possible. These are Rosewell, Roslin & Bilston, Loanhead, Damhead and Penicuik. I would urge everyone to attend their local community council as it’s a good way to learn what is going on in your local area including any planning matters.
I look forward to seeing more of everyone when I can get out and about again.
